    Our angel has his wings...

    Last night from the sky high above, our street could be seen as it was lit with over 900 candles. Every neighbor from around came to us to express their sorrow and remind us of how lucky we were to have Tyler in our lives. The newspaper even wrote an article and put a picture in the paper. The kids promised to place new candles each night until Tyler is laid to rest on Saturday morning.

    5 1/2 year old Tyler w/ HCM dx. on 12/8/05 died suddenly in his sleep on 12/2/08.
    7 1/2 year old Katie w/ HCM dx. on 12/18/08, rec'd AICD, replaced on 2/19/09 w/ new lead.

          What a beautiful boy! I was so moved by the neighborhood lighting. I hope it helps ease your grief a little. We will continue to think of you each day.
          My son James, Age 18, diagnosed in January, 05. AICD - 4/5/05 at Tufts NEMC. Myectomy -1/25/06 at NEMC. Currently having heart failure issues. James' father and uncle both have HCM and AICDs. James dad, Carlton, had Myectomy at Cleveland on 4/10/06. James Medtronic recalled lead fractured 5/26/11. Had Biventricular Cardiac Resynchronization AICD put in on 6/3/11 Emory Midtown.

                        I was so saddened and shocked to hear of your loss. I haven't been on the website for a long time but thankfully I am still on the e-mail list. I don't know what to say. The loss of a child is the very worst thing that can happen to a parent (and you know I say this from personal experience). I pray for you and your family and friends that you will find the strength to make your way through the difficult road ahead.

                        You will never accept this, you will never forget, but you will somehow find something within you that helps you go forward from day to day.

                        Although we have never met personally, I do feel that we have a connection. You were there for me, as I am for you. Please take care of yourself, my friend. Continue with your work to get those AEDs installed in schools. It's important. With God's help someday this nightmare of a disease will be a thing of the past.

                              I hope you can feel my embrace. I can not fully comprehend your loss and grief, but please know that I can feel God is holding you close and comforting you during not only this time in our life, but at all times (good and not so good).

                              I will be lighting a candle here in Tennessee. Tyler and his heavenly family will see all the love we have for them and for each other here on earth.
