My mother died seven weeks ago to today (23/7/08) at the age of 54.

Initial postmortem was inconclusive and we are now awaiting inquest results however she was diagnosed 2 yrs ago with Hypertrophic Cardio Myopathy and i have heard unofficially that this is the reason she passed away.

She was in reasonably good health although had suffered much stress over the years and many dental problems which we suspect were related.
She was in full time employment (office based), was a keen gardener and enjoyed long walks.

Many other family members including her sister, niece and several of my other cousins have been diagnosed with HCM also. My brother and myself have had the all clear for now through echocardiogram and are now recieving genetic counselling to decide whether to go ahead or not.

My sister died of cot death at the age of 7 months in 1986.
