  • My husband, age 53

My husband, Don, age 53, was hiking alone in the Northern California wilderness in November, 2004, when he collapsed. He was an attorney and had been active on a daily basis, gardening, playing racquetball, lifting weights, hiking. He had alarming arrhythmias for nearly ten years, and one blackout episode six years previously, followed by hospitalization. For six months before his death he suffered from breathing problems, and visits to the doctor did not help with diagnosis or treatment. He was not diagnosed until after his death. Testing of children reveals that one has the trait to a small degree.
