Dad collapsed at home upon getting out of bed, February 28, 1985. He remained in a coma for eight days then passed away following an episode of ventricular tachycardia. He was not diagnosed with HCM at the time. Since he was adopted, no prior family history is available. He was a college math professor and enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and most sports. He was physically active, but would not be considered athletic.
