    Zoo's dead gorilla had heart disease
    Necropsy results show that Rocky, a male gorilla that died at the Little Rock
    Zoo on Oct. 3, died of heart disease.
    "The gorilla died from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy," said Dr. Marilynn Baeyens,
    zoo veterinarian. "This means that the walls of the heart, particularly his left
    ventricle, were enlarged and had large areas of abnormal tissue called fibrosis.
    Rocky died the morning after zoo officials sedated him for a routine physical
    Baeyens noted that Rocky's type of heart disease is seen in up to 70 percent of
    adult male gorillas.
    Rocky's body was incinerated after the necropsy, Zoo Director Mike Blakely said.
