  • Proper knee Rehab

I just tore my miniscus a couple of weeks ago while cycling. I am trying to at all cost to avoid surgery. Is there anything I can do to help in the healing process or am I just avoiding the inevitable?

For those of you with hcm who have had this surgery how hard is it for us to recover. I had similar surgery a year ago but it was for a piece of ligament that caught in the joint and I had complications with the anesthetic which resulted in two weeks in the hospital and the idiots did not tell the surgeon what had happened and so they would not let me move it and it created a lot of scar tissue which this ortho said he would take care of if I opt for the surgery.

Should I hold out or just do it?

My son had it when he was in high school. The consensus at that time was the longer you wait the worse it gets. I advise checking with the surgeon and seeing what he advises. Good luck hon.

My daughter has had both knees "fixed" this summer and fall. But she doesn't have HCM. She had a little problem with nausea with the anesthesia the first time so they gave her reglan & pepcid in her iv the second time. She did just fine with both surgeries and is still doing PT for the 2nd knee. Don't know if that helps or not, though. Good luck.

about how long was she out of work/school? This is another thing I am worried about. I just missed three weeks of work due to pneumonia. I know with the scraping it was supposed to be just a long weekend with going back to work on Tuesday.

          Thanks in advanced.
