  • Beginning of this month we went on a cruise

I thought I would try the fitness room for some exercise and decided to give the eliptical trainer a try. Well I experienced first hand what an efficient cardio work out this is especially for one with HOCM Starting heart rate 65. A mere 30 seconds into the exercise and I was completely exhausted. I checked my heart rate again and was at 105. I was amazed! Since whenever I get over 90 Beats per minute I experience fatigue. I will pass up this piece of equipment and just stick to walking.

I thought maybe I was the only one that had problems with the eliptical trainer. Dr.Lever wanted me to do cardiac exercise ,and we have a room with exercise equipment at our hospital. He said that he would like my heart rate to get up between 110 and 120 when exercising. I was on the eliptical trainer only 2 minutes and my heart rate went that high. It also made me very tired. I decided to stay with the treadmill. I have to set it at 2.8 mph. and start out with a 6 incline and then towards the end of my 20 minutes I keep raising it until it gets to 9 incline and I can get my heart rate up to 110, but it seems to make my legs ache. I think maybe that is because I am walking up an incline all of the time.
