I just need the Opportunity to B00 Hoo, about Myself! So if you're not in the mood to read a Bad luck Story, just Delete.
On 7/24/03 I had a Myectomy @ Mayo. My recovery seemed "unremarkable", but I never got through the "Recovery" I returned to work, in October. In November, I began experiencing Chest Pains, they traveled to both arms & sometimes were so severe I Vomitted. Obviously I visited my local Cardiologist, who called Mayo & they said they didn't think it was anything to worry about. My local Dr did an "injectable stress test" which indicated no Blockages. The pain persisted & over time grew from occassionally (November) to 10-30 times a day in February. By this time I had quit working, applied to SS Disability (I received with out problems). My local Dr convinced I did have a Blockage, sent me back to Mayo, in March. On March 12, I had a Heart Cath (my 2nd since July)-they found no Blockages & told me to lower my Blood Pressure to 115/60, use the Nitro Spray & all would be fine. Well, it wasn't fine-I couldn't leave the House alone, was in almost constant pain-it was a NIGHTMARE. I wanted to Die. My local Dr, couldn't figre it out. He ordered a Video of the Cath, viewed it, called me & told me I needed another Cath. on April 16during the Cath, they told me I need to be prepped for Emergency BiPass. They told my Husband I would probably not Live.
Today is 3 weeks since I had my chest cracked open for a 2nd time this year. Both the Surgeon & my WONDERFUL Cardiologist say I am a 'Poster Child" other than constant pain in my Sternum, Shoulder & Leg-I feel pretty good! I started walking on my Tread Mill (I can do 4 minutes!) But it's been a LOOOONG year!
The Moral here-Always believe you can do it- Pray a Lot-find a great Cardiologist, who is knowledgeable about HCM & always Listens to you.
Wow- I feel better Now-Thanks!
Oh, to keep this in perspective- I'm a 56 year old Female, in Good shape (Iused to be very Active) & fairly healthy. I was diagnosed with HCM about 15 years ago
