  • ED and HOCM

After several years of heart issues I finally went to the right cardiologist and was diagnosed with HOCM. I also have an aortic aynurism. I will be having a septal myectomy and replacement of the dilated section of my aorta in a few months. I have had ED for a long time and used viagra, originally with good results. However over the past few years my results from the viagra have declined and has no effect on me anymore. This happened in the same time frame that I started noticing my HCM symptoms. I have two questions. Can the ED be a symptom of the HCM? Will the septal myectomy reduce the symptoms of the ED? I would love to hear from people with similar experiences.

Since my understanding is that ED is often a blood supply issue and both aortic aneurysm and HCM can decrease blood supply to tissues and organs.....You might be able to see improvement once your over all blood supply to tissues is improved. Ask your surgeon and cardiologist what they have seen in situations similar to yours.
    After years of symptoms:

    Myectomy 3/11/13 at non-COE
    Extended Myectomy 7/23/14
