  • Add my dad to the list...

So dad had a bad night last night but this morning seemed fine - he went off to dialysis today and was very agitated and had a low fever. As the treatment went on he got worse. As he went to leave his fever went up - he became more upset - went to get in the car and got worse he was brought back into the center and his fever was higher now 102 - then he said his chest hurt - then the ICD started to go off - not sure how many times...
He was taken to the ER. Stacey, my niece had just left the house in Florida this morning to stay close to the airport for an early morning flight home - I sent her back to the hospital to be with my mom - no word yet as to dads condition - this all happened around 6:45 this evening.
My dad is tough -- he has also been though a great deal in the past 2 years, just not so sure of how much more the body can take.
Dad will be 73 on April 23... he did not know he had HCM until he was nearly 60 although the symptoms were there all his life - his treatment was poor until he was about 62 - PLEASE learn a lesson from my dad - take HCM seriously when you are younger it will likely make life a whole lot better when you are older.

Keep dad in your prayers - Thanks
    Lisa

PS Cyn - I will be thinking of you tonight - wishing you peace - L.

Stacey just called - he is a little better- he is speaking now but they still do not know what is wrong with him and are looking for everything under the sun - ECG's every 3 hrs (but no one has looked at the ICD yet), treating for pneumonia, and breathing treatments - fever still around 102.
            Keep those good thoughts coming.

This is a bad week for you Cynaburst. Your father has a rough few years but has always bounced back just a strong as ever. I pray for you and your family to weather this storm safely.

Re: Add my dad to the list...

Thanks guys! Dad is in ICU awaiting news of what the heck happened this time. One doc did come in and said what was likely the worse thing you could say to my dad "you are a very sick man" - if you told him that when he was fine it would take him down so far it is hard to get his mind back on track - now with everything so compromised it really was the last thing I wanted to here them tell him.

                      Keep good thoughts coming.

Update- Dad is doing a bit better - his b/p is back up and his ICD is not causing a problem at the moment - although he used a great deal of battery so he may need to have it replaced sooner then we would like.
Mom went home to get some sleep.
