  • Please keep my Dad in your prayers

    Hi everyone,

My 76 year old father (actually he is 75, his birthday is tomorrow) had a stroke this morning. He was scheduled to have a hip replacement today as he had been suffering from a partial replacement a few years ago which didn't work too well. He has long standing a fib from his HCM and had to be tapered down on the coumadin in preparation for surgery. That is what caused the stroke.

He is still heavily sedated so we don't know how bad it is yet. Obviously, he won't be having surgery today, but since about the only thing we can do now is pray, I would appreciate any help my family can get.

    Thanks for your help.

                              Hi everyone,

So...not too much news to report. Still waiting around. Lots of sitting around hospitals. At least today we were able to get my brother's computer working with internet access --no wireless access around here so we got a Sprint card.

The stroke was substantial, but we cannot fully assess the extent of the damage until the swelling subsides. He had a previous massive stroke on the opposite side of the brain in 1981, so this stroke affected the side of the brain which was previously healthy which doesn't leave too much healthy brain tissue.

He is mostly asleep, can't move the left side of the body, but seems to be aware of us and able to squeeze hands or wave his arm on command.

So, please just keep the prayers coming. That is about all that we can do right now.

                              Thanks.
