  • Loss of a friend

The world lost a wonderful man yesterday. Chuck Morrell was a long time friend of the HCMA and one of our original members. Chuck had a long family history of HCM and had lost 5 family members. About 10 years ago Chuck had a heart transplant and had been working hard to raise awareness of HCM.

He passed away yesterday, I am not sure of the reasons that lead to his passing.

Chuck was a dear sweet man with a heart of gold. I will always remember his sense of humor and his smile. It is a comfort to know we have one of the good guys looking over us from above. (Yes Chuck - I know you made it in 'upstairs' regardless of what you use to tease about!)

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this difficult time.

Bless you Chuck and we will miss you!

    Your friend,
    Lisa

I am so sorry and sad to hear this! Chuck is one of the very first people I "met" on the internet years ago after first learning Andrew had HCM. He was a wonderful person who held my hand a lot through those first few years when I had so many questions and fears. The world truly lost a wonderful human being!

My thoughts and prayers to his family and all who knew and loved him.

May Chuck rest in peace. May God reach out to his friends and family that are in sorrow, touch them and leave them with peace. Chuck's kindness and heart felt need to raise awareness of HCM was known by many. After the loss of many of his family to HCM and his own diagnosis he became an advocate for the condition. He truly will be missed by his daughter, Holly, and his many friends. I will miss him, too.

I know that Holly continues the battle of HCM awareness, education and heart screenings in CA and across this country. Chuck was a founding member of their organization, A Heart 4 Sports, www.AHeartforSports.org, and was a great friend to many. We fight on in his honor and the honor & memory of those that have gone before us.

God Bless Chuck and all the Morrell's in heaven!
              Love and Light,
              Sharon Bates

Chuck was the first person I ever talked to about HCM (I kept him on the phone forever). He was such a wonderful person. He was helpful, reassuring, and got me through a very difficult time (when I first learned that Keanu was born with HCM). He helped to get my husband and I screened at one of his screenings down in Anaheim in September of 2001. He did a lot of incredible work and touched so many lives. He will be sorely missed in our world, but a wonderful addition to his new life.

My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.

                God Bless You, Chuck!!!!
