  • Lori - 9 years

    9 was Lori's favorite number.
Lori was born on January 9, 1959
    My birthday is August 9
Lori was my older sister by 9 years and 8 months

She died on June 16, 1995
My daughter will be 9 on July 15, 2004

This is the day, June 15, that I knew my sister was not going to make it. This is the day I began to say good bye to my friend, my sister, a wonderful mother of 2 wonderful kids, a daughter who always gave of herself, and a friend to so many. 9 years later I still feel like I am saying good bye somedays and others I can feel her standing beside me.

I just want you all to know that it is because of Lori we are here together, it is Lori that keeps the HCMA what it is, it is her smile that drives the HCMA, it is because nobody should every suffer the needless loss my family did from HCM, it is all for Lori.

God Bless Lori and may she know how many she has helped along the way.

    Rest in Peace Lori

    Love,
    Lisa

        Re: Lori - 9 years

        Dear Lisa.
I guess you know that we Jews honor someone by doing a mitzvah (good dead) in their honor. It is as if you could make entries in another person’s Book of Life ledger which is used to determine how good and of what value that person’s life has been.

While no one could approach all the mitzvah’s you’ve done in Lori’s honor, I should like to add my small contribution. Today I work on ‘Books for the Blind’ and will dedicate today’s services in Lori’s honor.

I would like to say one more thing if I may. People come and people go, but souls are eternal. When you feel Lori is with you – she really is. Enjoy her presence and know that she loves you back. Next week I will dedicate my services in your honor.
        Burt

Bless you Lisa in Lori's honor. In your loss you have never waivered to lend a hand to someone in need. May you be strengthened always by the goodness you give through the pain you feel. Pam

Lisa, I am sure Lori knows exactly what she put into motion and I know she would be very proud of the work and dedication you have put into making the HCMA the success it is in her name.
              I thank you too.
Every great thing that has ever happened since the beginning of time has started as a single thought in someones mind.
So if you are capable of thought then you are capable of great things
              Good luck and stay well.

                Dear Lisa
I was hesitant if I was going to post anything, but felt that I must. I relive the loss of my son so often. I have very high respect for you that you have been able to help so many people with this horrible disease. You have the strength that I know I will never have. She knows what you are doing, how you have helped so many people and you are making this all become reality through the guidance of Lori. I do believe that Lori smiles down on you every day. We never lose our loved ones, they are always in our hearts. I have heard that we are put on earth for a reason. I do believe you are fulfilling your reason.
                May God bless you both.

                    Dear Lisa,

You inspire all of us and Lori inspires you! That is a great combination. Thanks! You two have touched people all around the world. Here in Beijing there is a young woman across the hall from me who is getting help for her genetic heart condition (not HCM) because I had enough information to tell her what tests to request and what to look for. I had enough information because of the two of you and this board.

Thanks to you both and to all the people who contribute here!

                    Rhoda

I don't have any inspiring words to say, I was never good at that kind of thing. I just wanted to say that I will be thinking of Lori and your family and I will remember what you have done for me because of her. Bless you all.

                      Pam
It's not what you gather, but what you scatter that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Dx in Feb/99. Obstructed. No ICD, no surgeries, no family history. 2 sons ages 14 and 6.

                          You are What makes me

                          You believed in me
                          When no one else thought,
                          I could hold the key
And know my love was not bought
                          There where no conditions.
                          To the love you gave,
Even when I was in a position
That at times seemed close to the grave.
                          You held my ailing hand,
                          Tenderly you consoled my heart.
The days it ws so hard to stand.
You gave me the strength for my part.
You were the answer to my prayer.
A friend to fill the void in my life,
                          A sign that He cares,
That my life was not in strife.
                          He found the woman,
                          That will always be here.
For it is you that makes me.
Want to go on with my life.
To do and be everything I can be.
For I now have a friend in my life.

I only wish I got the opportunity to meet this amazing woman.
You will always be in my mind
