    [First Timer]

I am 50 years old and was diagnosed with HCM about a year and a half ago. My symptoms became increasingly worse. My cardiologist put me on Toprol,Novasc and Altace. I became nearly unable to function. He then decided I should see someone who treats this problem on a more regular basis. In researching who that might be I ran across this website. Thank the Lord! One of the doctors recommended was Dr. Harry Lever of the Cleveland Clinic. I went there two weeks ago and was very impressed. They ran a number of tests. I found out I have no arterial blockages or valve problems. My HCM was slightly worse but not a lot. Dr. Lever and his staff were great. For the present he has taken me off the Norvasc and Altace and increased the Toprol to 50 mg. twice a day. I have more energy and seem to be less symptomatic day by day. Dr. Lever has been in contact by phone and fax. He feels that I am headed in the right direction, thus he is not going to change anything for at least another week.

If this doesn't work he said we would talk about surgery. I feel if I can get back to about 80% I will hold off on the surgery for a while.

Thanks for the website and thanks for the concern. Reading other peoples postings has been very helpful.

    May God Bless!

Happy to see you hear on the board! I am also glad to see your medications have been well adjusted, you are in good hands with Cleveland and the entire crew!

    All the best,
