[Good News On Followup Echo]

My latest echo showed further improvement in my HCM condition. When I received an ICD in March, dual chamber pacing was included. This immediately recuced my LVOT resting gradient from over 130 mm to 11 mm. Mitral Regurgitation (MR) also was decreased from Moderate to Mild. The results of my latest echo showed further decrease in MR from Mild to Trace. Aortic Insufficiency was no longer present. Other adverse parameters were either the same or slightly less than before. Needless to say I am very pleased. I know that DDD pacing doesn't help in many cases, but I seem to be one of the lucky ones thus far. I also have been taking Zocor (Simvastatin) and Coenzyme Q10 during this period, both of which have shown possible - but not proven - links to reduced hypertophy in some studies.
Just wanted to share some good news with everyone.
God Bless
Bob

Bob,
Congratulations on your good news! I know how happy you are feeling. I, too, have a dual chamber ICD (implanted in July). My echo in Sept. showed that my gradient was reduced. I no longer experience daily palpitations and breathlessness, although I had a bout with palpitations for a few days a couple of weeks ago. I would like to discuss Zocor and Coenzyme Q10 with my doctor. I know the results are not proven, but it's worth a try, especially if there are no bad side effects from them.
Wishing you continued good results,
Mary

Good is all around! I have said it once all probably saved another thousand times treatment options vary so greatly from patient to patient. I am so glad that these options have worked for each of you.
Best wishes,
Lisa
