I am presently on 100 mg of atenolol and find myself tiring very easily. Is this a sympton of HCM or a side effect of the beta blocker, or both? Thanks, Joyce

    Dear Joyce,

It can be both. Some people try taking half their dose inthe am and half in the pm or all of it before bed and sometimes this can help you figure out where most of the fatigue is coming from. Sometimes switching to a different beta-blocker helps a little bit too as we are all different and there are about a dozen beta-blockers and they vary a bit too.

Fatugie is a side effect from both the HCM and the beta blocker...talk to your doctor about altering your dose or switching your meds around. Get some rest and listen your body...do not push.

    Stay well,
