What is an Intraop-TEE? Dr. Smedira told me they will do this before and after the myectomy.

    Dear Howie,

They run an echo probe down your throat so that they can see the heart from the inside. This is a critical part of the surgery to make sure that it is done correctly and completely. If they can't see it, they can't cut it!

    all the best,

    Sarah

Don't worry ... it if is anything like Lynn's myectomy (also performed by Dr. Smedira), you will be asleep for the whole thing. They just are doing a before-and-after picture to be sure that it was successful.

    Howard,

If I remember correctly, your myectomy is scheduled for November 11? I assume that you will be having a cardiac cath the week before, yes? If this is still true, please come and visit me. My myectomy will be on the 4th. I should be in a standard room by the end of the week on my way to a recovery! I would like to say HI!

    Robert:

I hope to find you on the road to recovery and in good spirits considering the circumstances. I arrive in Cleveland for pre-op on 11-11 and I am scheduled for surgery on 11-14. See you soon and best of luck.

    Howie,

Sounds like you arrive about 7 days after my surgery. I am hoping to be ready to go home by then but since I have never done this before I can't say. If I am still there please come and see me. We can swap war stories.

    Robert:

I was thinking the same thing after replying to your message, since I was told that the hospital stay after surgery was approx. 1 week. I hope to hear from you via E-Mail indicating that you are on your way to recovery at home.

    Howie
