    [Thank you to all. Specialist?]

Hello again. First let me say thank you to everyone who replied to my last message. I will try to call that num. again. Another question. I see a cardiologyst now & my family doctor. Of course the cardio. is my main go to guy for my heart, but does that make him a specialist on HCM? Is he just a heart doctor? At my job they are going to put me on a lighter duty. I guess its just frusting to know I cant do some of the things a 33 yr. old is supposed to do. Its very hard to say I cant do that or it may shorten my life, or give me pains in my chest. Its a little scary you know. By the way I made an apt. to see my heart guy, but its not till nov. 6th. Does any one think thats a mistake if your having pains? I could see him sooner if I want to drive an hour. Thank you.

Hi Jason, most Cardiologist are not HCM specialists and some may know something of it, but in fact it is very common for a cardiologist to dismiss your condition as not much to worry about.

I went to 4 cardiologist before I found one that was a specialist with HCM. The other 3 told me yes I have a slight murmur and yes I have a slightly abnormal EKG but there was probably nothing to worry about.

    I'm glad I didn't accept their diagnosis.

Go to an HCM specialist if at all possible.

    Glen

If you are scared by the pains, go sooner, it is likely not going to do any thing further between now and the 6th - HOWEVER if in doubt it can not hurt to go to the doc or to the ER.

Call the HCMA office today - if I am not in use the # on the machine and call me there.
