    [HCM specialists in NC?]

    Author: Erica (---.biz.dsl.gtei.net)

I am in the process of trying to reach Lisa. In the meantime can anyone personally recommend an HCM specialist is North Carolina? My father has HOCM and lives in Cary, which is near Raleigh/Durham/Research Triangle area.

Thanks and have a blessed day!

I don't know for sure, but I would think that Duke would probably have a specialist. If not, I think MUSC (medical university of SC) at Charleston has one. That would most likely be the closest, but I just don't know. I'm sure Lisa will get back with you as soon as she can. She has all this info at the tips of her fingers.

    Dear Erica,

There are not so many HCM specialists running around. There may be someone in your state---I really don't know---but be prepared for Lisa to say "Boston" or "New York" as the closest two locales, just in case.

She is super busy this week as there is a conference this weekend, but she does get back to everyone when she can. We need to clone her, actually!!!

    take care,

    Sarah

    Hi Erica,

I responded to your other post but now I have more info for you. I had the ablation this past April and I am SO happy I did! It has changed my life greatly! Dr. William Spencer did my procedure in Houston but he is based in Charleston, SC. He may be the closest HCM specialist to you. He is at the MUSC Medical Center in Charleston. They have a website...muschealth.com. Their 800 number is 1-800-424-MUSC. You should still get whatever info you can from Lisa at HCMA she has WAY more resources than I do. I just wanted you to know about Dr. Spencer. He is wonderful at what he does and a VERY nice man!

    Good luck,

    Shannon

    Hi ERICA,

Sorry I butted in. Apparrently you got everything you needed from Lisa. Just thought you could use a POSITIVE opinion on the ablation since I know the HCMA is pretty negative about the procedure. Like Lisa said, though, you should explore all options!

Good luck with everything and I hope your dad feels better really soon!

Thank you again for speaking with me ... have a safe travel ... and I look forward to speaking with you on Wednesday morning!
