[v-tach while in hospital after myectomy]

Hi all,

my husband just had his myectomy. He is still in , but has had a few episodes of almost v-tach, but went out of it by changing positions in his bed. The doctor is now talking of adding a second betablocker to the one he is already taking. Has anyone had this? Is anyone else taking more than one kind of betablocker?

Thanks-Rhonda

RHonda,

This happened to me one morning in the hospital at 4:30 am. The nurses came in panicky. In the end, the doctors were not that worried, since the ICD never went off. They gav me magnesium because they thought it might be low which could cause a problem.

After a procedure your system has been through a great shock... therefore it is common to see some slight changes ...as Jerry noted.... give it some time and let the docs adjust the meds as needed.

Best wishes!!

Lisa,

that's exactly what I thought, but still worried, of course!

Jerry- did the magnesium idea work? Or have you gone off of it yet?

Thank you for your responses. Rhonda

Rhonda,

I really do not know about the magnesium. They want me to take it for the time being. The pharmacy gave me the wrong one which was too hard on my stomach, so I stopped it for a couple of days. I just got the slo-mag and will start again this morning. Since I am not on a monitor, I do not know if I have had any other instances, however, my ICD has still never fired.
