    [Hello from Ohio!]

    Author: Lynn Stewart (---.lexis-nexis.com)

    Date: 09-09-02 22:10

Hi everyone! I wanted to take a moment (an overdue one at that) to tell everyone how much my family and I appreciated all of the support during my tests, myectomy and hospital stay at Cleveland Clinic. Tim and I returned home to Dayton last Wednesday and while he has returned to work, my daughter (who is 2.5 yrs old) and I are staying with my folks. It's been immensely helpful to be at my parents house so that I don't need to worry about 'lifting' my daughter!

I'm happy to report that things are still going well and my family noticed yesterday and today that I'm 'picking up speed' around the house! I still have some "aches" and "twinges" that I sometimes feel concerned with but am reassured from my family doctor check-up that I'm healing fine so far. I'm impatient for the recovery period to be overwith but am already noticing that I feel some improvements. Somewhere along the way as I worked through the surgery process I forgot that I was doing the surgery to feel better!

I have to say that having the CMC together was fabulous and having everyone from the message board to follow our 'events' brought me an enormous sense of community and support. Everyone that we told at the Clinic about the Cleveland Myectomy Crew was really impressed; they know what a difference a sense of belonging can mean to working through surgery, recovery and life management. I can't say enough about how tremendous this arrangement was and what a difference it can make.

To all of those still waiting for tests/surgery: you *can* do this, just take one step (literally and figuratively) at a time.

    Lynn

    Lynn,

Glad you finally are able to post. As for all those CMC comments. DITTO!! It especially helped Susan since she was by herself.

    And more hello's from Ohio!

My mom (Marian) has been home for 2 weeks now. (Surgery was the 22nd) For the past few days I've been trying to explain why she can't go back to work yet. She is feeling so very good. She went shopping today with my sister for 4 hours with an hour in the middle for lunch. A 'normal' shopping day with mom can be from open to close--shopaholic! Life does go back to normal after surgery.

Like Tim said on a different posting, taking awhile to get back into the groove of work. My sister and I are having a harder time getting back to a normal routine. We've been doing most of the home care and letting Dad get back to his 'normal' (he took off time before surg to deal with mom's anxiety). "Home care" has been mostly keeping Mom from going stir crazy. What is the average amount of time after discharge until you feel 100%? Mom's been 100% for the past few days!!

With Mom's pre-op anxiety, I didn't share alot with her about this message board and the CMC. Now we've been talking and I'm catching her up on it all. She is so amazed at all of this. The support has been a wonderful thing for me and she is so appreciative to all of you for helping me and in a round about way helping her too. She wants me to send a big huge thank you to all of you. She's sorry she didn't have it all together in time to meet the rest of the CMC. I can't explain how touch she was to know that all of you were thinking of her and that she was a third of the CMC! She hopes Jerry and Lynn have a quick and easy recovery like she is having.

    Thank you all,

    Dawn and Marian

    Dawn,

Nice to hear from you. I believe I am doing better than I expected as well. I am starting to feel bored or stir crazy. Not enough to want to go back to work, but enough to read this board too often. We're really glad everything is alright. Susan was worried when she didn't hear from you.

Dear Lynn, Jerry, Dawn/Marion, With all this still ahead for me I can't tell you how reassured I feel hearing how well all of you are doing. Sometimes working in the medical field can be a negative thing. You know too much and have many fears beacuse of all you have seen over the years. But you all are doing so well I am just so grateful everyday for finding this site on line. It has made such a difference in my stress level as I approach my surgery day. Take care and keep us informed on your progress. Sue

I am amazed at the CMC.. I really believe that your wonderful progress is due to your support and friendship!!

You have inspired a new portion of the website soon to come... I will have a place for those traveling to a specialist to check and see if others will be there at the same time. Sarah... shout out to you to talk to our new web ace about how to do this...

    Best to all!

    Lisa

I was totally caught up in checking on the CMC. I think it is fantastic how everyone pulled together to help one another through surgery/recovery. I'm curious to know how soon you think that this portion of the website will be available. I'd like to utilize it for my upcoming procedure in MN.

Thanks so much for all that you do!
