    [apical hypertrophy]

I have known for about a year that I had HCM. Now I know more specifically that I have apical hypertrophy. I would be very interested in talking to others with this specific ailment offline via email. Drop me a line if you'd be willing to chat about your experiences.

    Thanks much!

    Tom

    Anyone? Bueller?

Are there only two of us in the HCMA (and online) who have apical HCM??

Would love to hear from anyone else who has it. Thanks all!

    Hello there,

I am 44 yrs. old an I too have apical HCM and also have atrial fibrilation to boot. I have had a very hard time finding info about our type of HCM. They say rare Japanese variant. Ok, so hook us up with some Japanese HCM people? I don't know what to say. I can say that my symptoms are severe enough that I've been on disability for almost three years. I'm very symptomatic they say, da! I have shortness of breath, fatigue, and most of all light headedness. I can't do much if any physical activity. I do an arthritus pool class because that's about the only exersize I can tolorate. Like most of us I have desent days and also very bad days. I know my A-fib has added to this problem, but I do have a pacemaker installed that has helped with the A-fib. I take 25mg of atenolol twice a day to help with the hearts pumping (squeezing) ability. So I'm not over medicated like I was before the pacemaker.

I don't know what else I can say, but would be glad to talk to anyone about this. If you want email me and I'll call. I'm not togod at his typing thing.

Good luck to all and just kep on truck'n. Steve
