    [is HCM hereditary?]

I read Chris's message about his family history. In my family my father's half- sister and his full sister were diagnosed with HCM. My father and another half-sister tested negative. What does that mean for me and my siblings? A cousin told me HCM can skip generations and that a son (one of 3) of my father's half-sister that tested negative, tested positive. Is that just a coincidenc? Hoping to hear from you soon. Thanks!

    Julie,

HCM is and can be genetic.... in my family every 1 of 2 children have been affected and thus far no generations have been skipped. My family also displays many variations of this disease as well.... Absolutely positively can be genetic.
