I was wondering if anyone knew or had seen a HCM specialist in wash D.C. My cardiologist said that some of the specialists throughout the country started/worked at the National Institute of Health here in Wash but that the study is no longer ongoing and that she didn't know of any still left in this area. If anyone has seen an HCM specialist in this area. please let me know.

The HCMA does not recommend the NIH for the treatment of HCM. I suggest you contact the office and we can help locate a specialist for you.
Best wishes,
Lisa

Chuck,
I also live in the DC area and I travel to Johns Hopkins (Baltimore) to see an HCM specialist. I see Edward Kasper and have been happy with my care. He is the Director of the Cardiomyopathy and Heart Transplant Service.
Another person who I met on this message board that lives in the DC area travels to Hopkins to see Dr. Traill. She recommends him, too.
Though check with Lisa to see what she thinks.
Best of luck,
Julie

Hi Chuck,
Was just wondering if you were able to find somebody in this area that specilizes on HCM. I took Julie's information and contacted John Hopkins this morning. I was told that Dr. Edward Kasper specializes in Cardiomyopathy so I went ahead and scheduled an appointment for September but was wondering if you found somebody else.
Thanks
Dora
