Not sure if this the correct place to post this or not, if not, I'm sure it will be moved to the correct location.
I am leaving for the airport tonight at 3:00 am for an 11 day Caribbean cruise with my husband, sister, brother-in-law and nephew. I can hardly wait, except, that as usual, I'm still not completely ready.
In the past I have never taken any medical records with me, obviously out of ignorance. Awhile back, I read in a post that medical records should be taken with you. I can't seem to locate the posts, now that I need it.
I have my info. regarding my ICD and regular Emergency Medical Info. (diagnosis, Physicians #'s, medications, emergency contacts, etc.). Is there anything else that is particularly necessary? Certainly can't take everything, I'd have to check in an extra piece of luggage!
There are 2 Doctors onboard, but realistically, if anything actually DID happen...I wouldn't exactly be in the best place. In the middle of the Caribbean, surrounded by not-very-medically-equipt ports.
I really don't anticipate any problems. 4 months post ICD, and my heart being paced, I feel WAY better than I have in a long time. I no longer have that, "my heart is going to beat out of my chest", "and I'm going to pass out any second" feeling, which I used to have constantly! I can exercise for a total 45 minutes on the treadmill, bike and lifting 2 lb. weights in cardiac rehab. Not exactly hiking, rock climbing, or jogging, but for me, it's awesome! This medical device is pretty cool!
