  • trip to Mayo.

I recently completed my trip to Mayo and was evaluated by Dr Steve Ommen. I was a very informative trip and did provide answers I was looking for;Now I have decisions to make. The exam was very thorough, The echo was very demanding compared to my prior echos, and the exercise test provided answers about just how affected I am. Dr Ommen felt that I had a significant obstruction and after 30 years of beta blockers and now verapamil should probably proceed to a myectomy. I just received copies of the report from Mayo, and would encourage any one with HOCM to seek one of the specialty centers, at least for reassurance that you are following the right course, and I thank you guys and Lisa for encouraging this couse.

It does feel reassuring when you get the experts opinions, now if i could only get these Doctors in Virginia to just listen to what Dr. Maron has said is a chore and a half, but i'm glad you got the answers you needed and good Luck in the future

I'm so glad that you had the opportunity to get checked out by the folks at Mayo. Open-heart surgery can be a scary proposition, but in reality it was a walk in the park for me compared to my previous surgeries (which included a radical nephrectomy). Let us know what you ultimately decide, and should you go for the surgery you know you have a ton of folks here behind you to provide lots of good advice and support.
