[identifying SOBreath]

Our 4 year old was tested when he was 1 or 2 and has not been diagnosed with hcm unlike our 6 year old and myself yet I'm wondering about having him rescreened. He does this sighing thing a lot, like he's trying hard to fill his lungs. A little like a gasp. I usually notice this when I'm reading to him or when we're driving in the car, not when he's playing or exercising, which is odd. Sometimes he does it over and over again - like a short lived habit.

IF IN DOUBT>>>CHECK IT OUT!
You are not over reacting you have a family history of a serious medical conditon and your son is showning abnormal breathing... It may be NOTHING...it may be something. I would bet your not going to feel comfortable until he is seen and evaluated so call the doc and set it up...at worst he will be diagnosed...at best he is cleared...IF he is diagnosed you can get him the best care and take good care of him, isnt that our job as parents simply to do our best?
Stop wondering and get it looked at, you'll sleep better knowing the truth, what ever it is.

Just a word of caution. My 11 year old had a echo done in February at our local hospital and read there. I was told it was normal. In May I had him seen by a prediatic cardioligist at which time he reread my sons echo and he told me my son has mild HCM.
