  • Good Aed News!!!

    so happy!
I just started my 2nd semester health class and we had to make goals to complete by the end of the year. Mine was to get an AED put in my highschool. My teacher LOVED that and told me that she thought there was money in the health budget for one. she's gonna talk to the chair of the health dept to find out what funds they have. I still hafta talk to my principal, i just havent gotten the chance too. but hey, im one step closer!!!

    Good for you!!
I just wanted to let you know, there is grant $$ available if you look around. If you have a Wal-Mart in your town almost all of them have grants. Also you may want to contact your local Fire Department or Emergency Medical Service and talk with them. They may also know about grant $$ available.

When you talk to Fire and EMS find out what units they use, it would be better if you could get a unit that has patches compatible with what they carry on the rigs. Each brand has it's own connectors and most brands don't interchange. But if you can't it's not that big of a deal as they (fire and EMS) can just take off the first ones applied and put there's on. They can also put you in contact with their local sales representative to help you out.

I know the patches have expiration dates just like medication.Someone should be keeping tabs on the AED and replacing pads and checking the unit from time to time. Just to make sure it's ready to go. And Fire or EMS could be good for that also. Some departments also offer classes on how to apply patches and use the units, free of charge. I'm sure they would at least want to know that you guys have the unit in your school, just for general knowledge.

Good luck, I hope some of this helps?? Send me a PVT message with #'s an I'll be happy to talk w/you or your parents about this. Or I can send you mine either way works.

    Be Safe,

    Troy
