I thought some people might like a bit of good news today! Our 2 sons had their echo's yesterday and neither one showed any signs of hcm. They are only 6 and 8 so I know that they are not out of danger yet but for us this was a very good day. We will take any positive news right now!

I know you must feel a little bit of relief now... but please remember to screen them again when they reach puberty and then every 12-18 months until age 20 - then every 5 years.
But for now... I am happy for you!
Best wishes to the entire family,
Lisa

I was just reading another post, and you recommeded seeing a pediatric spec. My boys were tested at the same place as my husband. They do not generally do children but did because I was very worried and the wait at the children's hosp. was very very long. One of my sons has a heart murmur and the other one had a murmur until he was 2. Do you think that we should still get an appt. at the children's hosp.
thanks for any info.

Dear Debbie
I think seeing a pediatric HCM specialist would be in everyone's best interest. Please call the office at 973-983-7429 to get the name of a pediatric specialist.
take care
sarah

well, this is a choice you will have to make... and make it one that allows you to sleep at night. If the kids have clear echos at this time , they are most likely OK - for now...however the murmurs are a bit of a twist. If it makes you feel better to have an expert review it, then make an appointment, or call and ask if they will review the records - workinging through your current dr. -
seeing a ped. card.with expertise in HCM is not all that easy and doing so simply for diagnosis may not change much ...at this time. Once / IF the kids are diagnosied than a review be a specailist is a great idea.
Best wishes,
Lisa
