  • Lower leg pain

    Hi everyone

I was wondering if anyone here had constant lower leg pain?

I noticed that within the past few months, my lower legs hurt all the time. My legs used to hurt only at night if I did alot of activity during the day, but during these past few months they hurt constantly even in the morning when I wake up.

Maybe it is another symptom of CHF ?

Thank you for any information. I really appreciate it.

    Hi Eileen,
Is your leg pain from the muscles in your legs, or is the skin so tight that it hurts? When you push on the sides of your shins do you leave indentations?

All of the above can be caused by excess fluid in your legs/body, but if it is muscle pain, and you are not ‘pudgy,’ the pain could be because your potassium or other electrolytes are out of whack. If your potassium is too low or too high the leg pain could be followed by severe leg cramps which can teach you a whole new vocabulary. (Been there – done that.)

If your legs are ‘pudgy’ you might want to see your doctor and find out if your chest and lungs are also ‘flooded’ – CHF wise, and if you’re electrolytes are off you will need to see your doctor to get them back in balance. In any case, pain is nature’s way of saying - something needs fixing.

Good luck my dear, - but please don’t ignore it.

      Hi Burt,

Thank you for replying. The pain is in my muscles, maybe it is a potassium problem. I do not swell to much in my lower legs, but my feet swell everyday and so does my abdomen. I can go from a size 8 t a size 10 in 8 hours.

I see a new cardiologist tomorrow, I will tell him about the pain.
Thank you again for the information, you are so thoughtful all the time.
