[HCM Specialist]

Exactly who is a HCM Specialist? I understand we are usually talking about someone who works at a large clinic, but not all of us live in those areas. Is there a list, or questions we can ask?
Also, if i do decide to go for an opinion at one of the specialist centers, besides Baylor, Cleveland Clinic, and Mayo, are there others people would recommend?
Thanks
Jerry

My internet reserach led me to a specialty HCM program in New York City at St. Lukes-Roosevelt hospital
I haven't been there although I intend to schedule myself for an assessment there since it's the easiest place to get to on the east coast

Hi,
Just thought you might be interested in my experience at St. Lukes.I've seen Dr. Sherrid, an HCM specialist at St. Lukes sveral times, and have been very impressed with his knowledge and pleased with his patient relations skills.
He was right there when I had my ICD implanted. He doesn't hesitate to answer questions and discuss any of my concerns in a frank but friendly way. I also was impressed with the professionalism and friendliness of the many members of the hospital staff that I encountered during my ICD surgery and followup testing.
I continue to see my local cardiologist regularly and Dr. Sherrid periodically, and would certainly recommend him. I know he has also spoken at several of the annual HCMA meetings.
Good Luck,
Bob
