  • Congratulation To The Gentile Family!

They fought - and unfortunately I do mean fought - with their board of education to get AED's in all the schools in West Milford NJ. Last month I went with them to the BOE meeting and spoke re HCM and sudden death as did a local firstaider. The Gentiles told the story of their son, who thankfully was saved after 2 seperate events of cardiac arrest 10 days appart - both at school several years ago. He now has an ICD. The Gentiles wanted to make sure that should someone elses child need it that an AED would be there for them.

This is a good and bad story. The BOE REFUSED to pay for them. However they could afford 3 new copy machines at 30,000.00 but not 15K for the devices needed and training! What did happen was nothing short of amazing - one member of the BOE took the challange and helped raise the money. Mr. Greg Baily, BOE and Joe Smolinski, volunteer firstaider, worked with the PTA and sports teams to find the money and in under 1 month they had the 15K to purchase everything!

Merry Christmas Mr. Baily - A bell just rang and you got your wings! (you too Joe!)

It truly is a wonderful life with people like this in the world.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
