    Re: i have a question

    Bennett,

I used to get quite a bit of tightness and pain in my neck prior to my myectomy, especially on the left side. My docs told me that it was due to my obstruction (HOCM). In fact, i saw one specialist who performed one of the most thorough physical examinations i have ever had. He placed his hands on either side of my neck, and was able to tell the amount of obstruction i had, without even having performed an echo yet. I have no doubt in my mind now that this neck pain was directly associated with HCM, and i have a whole lot of respect for physicians who look at the total body, and don't just rely on test results.

As far as the thread goes, you'll find occasionally that comments get interjected here and there that are not intended for the original poster. It's unavoidable at times. However... i have seen threads hijacked by others that go so far off-topic that the original question gets largely ignored. We need to do a better job sometimes of staying on topic.

Thanks for bringing that issue to everyone's attention. I don't have any problem at all with you or anyone else saying 'Hey, remember me? I was the one with the question here!'

    Take care,

    Jim

      Re: i have a question

      Hey – another side issue,
But before I begin, I just want to say there is no substitute for good old common sense and what we call, ‘Home Remedies’ which were learned from years and years and years of experience.

OK, I guess for most of you the two subjects never cross, but there is a treatment for epilepsy where they implant a devise under the skin with a wire wrapped around the vagal nerve as it passes through the neck. A fifteen second pulse every other minute (or some other effective program) is designed to break up an epileptic attack before it begins. It can also be triggered by a hand held magnet if the person gets an aura – or some notice that an attack is eminent. Usually the only way you know it’s working is that there is a secession or diminution of seizure activity – and the pulse also effects the vocal chords, giving a slightly hoarse effect.

There are more things in heaven and Earth, Horatio, / Than are dreamt of in your philosophy [science].

      Sorry for the divergence,
      Burt

        Re: i have a question

        Thanks Pam and Burt,

Once again, Nigel, no offense intended. Ooops, I mean Bennett.

Sometimes, it is easy to forget who you're talking to. Being of little brain already, it only takes adding a few beta blockers to the mix, and then my brain is even smaller.

Seriously. I even scheduled coffee with my sister last Sunday, and then forgot to show up.

Anyway, everyone have a great night.

        Debbie

        P.S.
After posting this, I went back to read it, and discovered that there was a second page. See? I hadn't even finished reading all the posts. The subject was over. Anyway decided to leave the whole thing so you can all see how truly small my brain is! Ok, I will shut up now.

          Re: i have a question

          Hi All,

I didn't mean to imply that this particular thread had gone way off-topic... or at least it hadn't until now. LOL. Small diversions are quite normal i think, and i hope no offense was taken by my previous post. It's really not my place to say anyway... it is Lisa's of course. I just have a really big mouth.

However, let's get back to Bennett's original question shall we?

Does anyone get tightness in the neck when ya walk it feels like ur head is going to exploade i am also wondering if anybody else gets lots of wind traped if it makes them sick aswell is theere anything different that might help give me advice.
