      Re: primary care in Pitt?

      Hi Lena,

I'm here in Indiana, PA... just a stone's throw from you. My PCP is local so i can't recommend anyone to you, however my HCM specialist for a while was Dr. Shaver at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh. He's a great guy who made sure i got the very best care i could have asked for, and he was also instrumental in helping me get to Cleveland for my myectomy.

Do you have an HCM specialist in Pittsburgh, or at least a cardiologist you feel confident in? If so, you might ask them to offer some suggestions of PCP's they have worked with in the past, and will help to coordinate your treatment with them. When i had to change PCP's after my myectomy, i asked my local cardio for the names of three doctors, i chose the one that is covered by my insurance, and he has turned out to be great.

Take care, and feel free to PM me at any time

      Jim

Jim, thanks for the reply. My husband has a great specialist at the Cleveland Clinic, which he plans to keep, since the drive is not very far. But his primary care group here in Pittsburgh leaves a lot to be desired.

          Re: primary care in Pitt?

          Hello,

I'm here in Pittsburgh. It's hard to find a good docs in Pittsburgh. I'm also am a patient at CCF

My local cardio here is Dr. Murali with UPMC. We do have our debates and he is often times busy.

Another really good cardio here that I visit is Dr. Yvonne Maher with Allegheny General. Really good bedside manner and she actually listens.

Now if you only need a PCP, ear nose and general body stuff, then I really don't have any suggestions. My main PCP is nice , but also really overcommitted, but I could look if needed. What part of Pittsburgh do you live?
