    [New to this!]

I just discovered this site recently. Glad to find that I'm not alone! Has anyone know if the fluid retention symptom is like having phlem most of the time?

    Thank you,

    Dear Jojo

Phlem and fluid are different. When someone is retaining fluid (for whatever reason, but with HCM usually due to cardiac insufficiency), their ankles will swell and they will develop a dry cough and perhaps swelling in other joints as well or even all over if severe enough.

Too much phlem is something else entirely.

I'm glad fluid was brought up. I didn,t know a person with HCM can retain fluids. Before my sister pass away she was retaining fluids. My sister when to the doctor for 3 years and they never found out what was wrong with her. Until she pass away 3 months later we found out it was HCM. Her face even broke out.(could that had something to do with it?) I'm still trying to find out if it was something I could have done to help my sister. We often talk and I would ask her (have the doctors found anything) (No, she would say) . We even talk about changing doctors and she did. (but it didn,t help) The doctors even had her taking steroids. Do you think the steroids made her retain the fluids .

Anyway thanks for all the information that is put on this web.

    Best regards to everyone,

I would have someone look into her medical records to see if she received the care she should have. Not because you want to file a law suit but to give you some peace of mind to know if anything coiuld have been caught. It takes away a great deal of the "I wonder if's".
