[obstructive vs non obstructive]

recentaly came back from the cardiologist after yet another echo i havent learned much other than i have the non obstructive form can some one please translate what that means? is it better to have the non obstructive form vs obstructive??? please any help would be appreciated. lost liza

Dear Liza

Non-obstructive is better. It means that the mitral valve is able to function without running into the septal (middle) wall of the heart. Obstruction is when the septum becomes so thick that it catches the valve as it moves. There is more info on this in the info parts of this web site. It's a good thing (non-obstruction).
