Lately my husband has been having severe shortness of breath. I know this is a symtom of this disease, but it is really gotten worse lately and it happens alot at night, he just wakes up and feels like he can,t get any air at all. we don,t have a dr appointment until the end of this week. so far the dr has put him on a lopresser twice a day. his symtoms and events are on a daily basis and seem to worsen every day. this web site has been extremely helpful as we hadn,t even heard of this before diagnosis was made. thanks for your imput. robin

Dear Robin
Please call the doctor's office this morning and tell them your husband's symptoms. They should try and fit him in if they think it is severe enough.
let us know,
Sarah

Robin,
If your husband is having that much trouble breathing call the dr or go to the ER. Do not play games or wait on dr's appointments, if he is having a problem take action. If he is normally short of breath and this is slowly increased then you may very well be fine waiting for the appointment. BUT do not be afraid to call the doctor and let them know what is going on. Keep in touch with us.
Best wishes,

Robin:
In the past , I have linked my own shortness of breath to caffeine, being overtired, too much potassium and the pacing mechanism on my ICD being set at too high a level. However sometimes, I get "sob" for no known reason.This is a frustrating part of the disease.
I hope you husband is seen by a provider soon.
