I thought mine would be gone after stopping the meds but the last few days it has been back. I have never heard of the type that you have could you describe it?
The way the doctor explained the type I had to me was that there were crystal like things in my inner ear, which the body/brain uses to determine position. If these crystals become disturbed you become disoriented – you get roaring headaches, when you move your head you get dizzy, you can also get nauseous, and other motion sickness symptoms - it’s altogether an unpleasant experience. Thankfully, I used a cheap medication that did wonders in controlling it.

exactly. That is what I was told...when I have it, I get dizzy when I look up at things and when I get up in the morning after lying down for a long period.
Meclizine (antivert) is not for us Cynthia, as it is a histamine receptor blocker, and doesn’t play well with HCM. I wish I could remember the name of the drug I used. I do not believe it was an HRB, but it was extremely effective for me.
Talk to your PCP about it. Maybe he can come up with an effective medication that isn’t in the HRB category – make sure you tell him that HRB’s are out because of your HCM. (If many cardio’s don’t know that much about HCM, you have to guide your PCP in that area.)
Good Luck Hon. Hope you rediscover the stuff I used. Let me know the name if you do. I think I’ll go back to my playpen, grab my letter blocks and see what other letter combinations I can put together – PCP, HCM, HRB, He He He.
