    Jim, your target heart is what you want to achieve, it's different for each person, based on their heart rate response to exercise, determined by the doctor. The max heart rate is the highest rate you should be allowed to achieve before they slow you down. Your peak BP is the one during exercise. It can be done 10-15 min into exercise, but should not be done after a person has finished working with wts. The isometric nature of wts gives a skewed BP for what you would have with aerobic exercise, and your program should be mostly aerobic. Linda
