As per the norm here in Florida you can't get good medical detail to save your life!

I got some of my medical records today to bring to my new/old cardiologist and to take up to Boston next month. I was going over my echo report and as per the norm their were absolutly no numbers on the report. How do you know these things without refrence points is beyond me!

But anyhow It said "the left ventricular ejection fraction appeared to be within normal limits with a somewhat reduced thickening of the interventricular septum. " Then it goes on to say " the interventricular septum was markedly and disproportionately hypertrophied to the other wall segments." does this sound right? I just hope this isn't progressing!

it also said there were trace mitral insufficiency and trace tricuspid insufficiency with an estimated right ventricular systolic pressure of 36mmhg.

I would know if only they actually gave numbers. I'm a fact girl I suppose!

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

    Mary S.

Yeh that sounds fine - sounds like how many non HCM docs write about HCM - however how silly of these people to NOT post the numbers!!!

      Mary,
Listen to your old grandpa. Go to wherever you had the echo done and ask for the raw data. If it’s still available you’ll be able to get it from them – hopefully a hospital and not the doctor’s office.

Remember my clown cardiologist? The one before this one? Well, I had an echo done in the hospital in March and this guy (who wasn’t even my doctor at the time) wrote up his impressions of the results (worth nothing), then he destroyed all copies of the data. I could not even get it from the hospital. A total loss, and I couldn’t kill him – he wasn’t in season.

Good luck with your quest. I hope you get the details. (I wonder how good the echocardiographer was with HCM patients.)
      Burt
