Ask for a copy of the echo report, you are entitled to it and it will list all of the wall measurements and usually what the normal range as well, so you can see from the report if anything is unusual.
there are several posts on how to read echo reports in the board.

I think that if the cardio who read the echo knew the family history and why the echo was done to begin with, then it's fine. The problem comes when the docs don't know what to look for.

My daughter, Melissa, had an echo last week. The cardiologist that read the echo is not a HCM specialist and her results were negative. Melissa's family doctor order the echo, she doesn't even know the cardiologist. My question: Because Melissa's echo was not read by a HCM specialist..Is there something that a specialist in HCM would look for in the echo? Would I be wise to have my cardiologist read it?
Any advise would be appreciated.Tags: None
