    Re: Update

Iam really sorry to here of your father even though he lived a long life it is never easy to loose a parent no matter their age or yours, But hang in there when it comes to that ICD it will get better

I always liked this poem and would like to pass it to you:

    When I Must Leave You

When i must leave you for a little while
Please do not grieve or shed wild tears
And hug your sorrow to you through the years
But start out bravely with a gallant smile
And for my sake and in my name live on and do all things the same, Feed not your loneliness on empty days, But fill each waking hour in useful ways, Reach out your hand in comfort and in cheer And i in turn will comfort you and hold you near, And never, never be afraid to die,

For Iam waiting for you in the sky

    Re: Update

    Dear Rhoda.
Please let me express my condolences on your fathers passing. He lived a rich full life, but passing on is always a sad event. Ogden Nash, the comedic poet, once wrote –

    Middle Age
    When I remember bygone days,
I think how evening follows morn.
So many I loved were not yet dead,
So many I love were not yet born.

May his memory be with you and comfort you always.

On the lighter side, it’s great to hear you can, and are, running all over the place, and that you will be able to return to China with your husband instead of being left behind for awhile. Don’t over extend yourself – this is summer and the livin’ is easy – or at least it’s supposed to be. I would think a nice long rest would be in order.

Thanks for the update. I was thinking about you and wondering how you were.

    Re: Update

My thoughts are with you. I know you had been expecting your dad to pass and that he had a VERY long life. Living with an ICD is not too wonderful the first week or two - then you nearly forget that it its there.

    Take care,

    Hi, all,

I've been out of touch for a few days, so a quick update:
We have been back from Beijing for three weeks and two days, so we are just getting over jet lag. My dad died last Wednesday, I got an ICD a week ago last Wednesday in Richmond VA, and we have made two trips (one by air and the other by car) of 6 and7 days each to Indiana and Kentucky to see my dad and for his funeral. I am glad that we are basically calm, and even enjoying life, in spite of these massive changes. I guess my biggest prayer is that I won't crash when we get back to China at the end of next month.

    Thanks for listening!
