  • why would heart rate drop?

I have a question about my husband. He has HOCM, had alcohol ablation last Nov. and has been doing very well. He has been feeling sluggish lately, but it is hot and humid where we live and he perspires profusely. His heart rate has dropped down to 60 (it had been in the 70's) and the pacer kicks in. I am wondering if he is having heart block, also, if he perspires so much, what about electrolytes and potassium? I have been trying to get pacer phones checks established since last March, and the first one will be next Tuesday. Will the phone check tell what has been going on with his pacer? I appreciate any input or help.

    Hi Paula
I can't answer your question relative to electrolytes and potassium because of perspiring because I have low blood pressure and I am cool if not cold most of the time.
You also asked if the phone check will tell what has been going on with his pacer? Yes, that is one of the reasons for the phone check another being the function of the pacemaker. The pacemaker is set at a certain heart rate and once it drops it will kick in. If you are concerned, please contact his doctor. He will know the rate in which the pacemaker is set.
    Wishing you the best.
