    muscle cramps

    As you all know I just got out of the hospital the other day. I've been laying real low. Haven't had the energy to do much else honestly. Anyhow I went to occupational health yeasterday because I've been having some problems with the back and the chiro said I needed to rest it for a few days. I didn't argue so I accepted the restrictions and the time off. While, I was there it was also time for the second part of my Hep B vaccination and 2nd part of my TB test.

    Every muscle in my body right now is cramping severly I can barely get out of bed! I'm not sure what it is from. Even my butt muscles are cramping . I know my electrolytes where out of whack in the hospital but could this also be from the vaccine. I just don't want anything else to be wrong. My cardiologist is already P.Oed at me and he goes on vacation tomorrow. I don't want to bug him! But if I have to I have to.

    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Mary,

    Sounds like electrolytes to me. Call the doc! A few years ago I would have muscle cramps so bad I would be in a tight little ball on the floor with every muscle in tetany. Why I did not go to the doc, I'll never know. Later I discovered I was terribly anemic and my electrolytes were out of wack. So, don't be foolish and wait for your heart muscle to start reacting to this - GO!

      Well, it just doesn't get any better! Went to my GP about the cramps today and passed out in the office.. I was out for over two hours. The doc thinks the aicd fired.I won't know till tomorrow. They are thinking about suspending my driving privliges. Don't know where my cell,keys or wallet are! My number for now is 407 303 8665 room 31. could use some cheering up.

        Hi all,
        Spoke to Mary last night, and could not get her to go to the ER again. She was sore (muscle cramps) and weak, and just wanted to go to bed.


        I just gat back from the convention and saw her post. I tried to call her, got cut off a couple of times, then was switched to the main switchboard. She connected me to Mary’s room, but the line was busy, so I haven’t spoken with her yet.

        I did learn that the number Mary posted goes to the ER, but she has been moved to a room. Supposedly you can reach her by calling the switchboard – 407-303-8110 and asking for room 410 bed 2. It’s six thirty here now and I expect we’ll be going out to dinner soon (my son is visiting). If and/or when I hear more I will post it. This girl is a trial for us – imagine what it’s like for her.

          Hi again,
          Spoke with Mary finally. She’s on morphine again. Don’t know yet if her AICD fired – hopefully will find out tomorrow.

          Her muscle cramps seem to have abated, and her nausea is gone, but she’s still weak. She said if her AICD has not fired they will begin a battery of tests to see what is going on.

          Funny thing, a nurse or doctor came in and said, “That’s funny. You don’t look Japanese.” Upon talking with her, Mary found out the echo showed that she had Apical HCM which only effects one to two percent of the HCM population that are not Japanese.
          I guess we’ll find out more as time goes by.

            Dear Burt,

            Please send Mary my regards. I hope she is feeling better and that it was just a bad case of dehydration going on --we know she has had trouble with water before. Sometimes something that simple can cause a heap of trouble, especially with someone with Mary's health situation. (I've had personal experience with similar.)

              Today’s Update

              Mary didn’t have too good a night. Her blood pressure dropped and she became woozy again. She thought she had slept through the night, but she woke up in a different room. She is now in Progressive Care Unit (PCU). She describes it as half way between regular care and the ICU.

              She said her AICD did not fire, but did record the problems she had in the doctor’s office and being out for two hours. She’s back on Verapamil and now a small dose of Altase also (an ACE inhibiter). If she gets out of bed she starts to get dizzy, so now she is restricted to the bed – no bathroom privileges.

              She still has the same number (407) 303 – 8110, but now she’s in Room 212 bed 2

              I’ll try to keep you posted, as much as I can.
