What limitations do people with cardiomyopathy have in their overall daily living, ex: driving, mowing yards, houseworks, just doing every day activities?

Hi

HCM is a very, very broad disease. Everyone's limitations depend on the progression of their condition and the medications and/or procedures they have had.

Some people have ICDs and/or pacemakers, which have their own set of guidelines, and some people are on disability while others do just about everything they want to.

General guidelines are to avoid nicotine, caffeine, alcohol, heavy meals, dehydration, and weight lifting as well as competitive level sports.

Learning to listen to your body and not over-exert yourself is the key. Eat well, take your medication and exercise according to your ability and your doctor's recommenations.

take care,

Sarah
