    [ST segment changes?]

    Author: Debbie (---.glen-net.ca)

I just checked my phone messages and there was a message from my husbands dr. saying that he had the results from his holter moniter. He said it showed st segmet changes. Does anyone know what that means? He has left for the day and I will not be able to talk to him until Tuesday now. The message said that he is not to concerned yet, what does that mean! This disease is all very new to us and any bit of news makes me nervous. Thanks for any info.

    Dear Debbie,

The ECG squiggles are all considered waves and are lettered. PQRST. The ST waves are when the heart is repolarizing. The ST waves can be depressed or elevated and the T wave can be peaked or inverted. My T wave inverted at 16. These are changes that many HCM patients have due to the nature of the condition and are usually not anything to really worry about. Your hubby is probably already medicated, right? No need to rush to the ER or anything.

    hope this helps,
