  • Small arteries

    Hi, all!

I mentioned once before that a neighbor of mine told me she was having heart problems. They sounded very familiar, so I suggested she have an echo. She says that the doctors here say that she has small arteries, but of course there is a translation problem here. Her doctors, Chinese, told her the results in Chinese but were very vague, because, she says, they spent the entire time on their cell phones while she was there. She, Chinese, told me in English, what she understood. So, we are not entirely clear here what they meant. They have placed her on "western medications" but they are in Chinese, so I do not know what. (She teaches English and is married to an American, so speaks it very well, but does not know medical Chinese or English, so is somewhat hampered in her ability to translate for her own condition.)

So, I looked online for info on small arteries and see hypertropy mentioned frequently as an after effect of small arteries causing back pressure on the ventricles. Anyway, I also see that a couple of people here have small arteries as well as HCM. So, I was wondering if anyone could give me some idea of how to help her get better information, or even what to suggest she ask the docs if she can ever get them to release their cell phones.

    Thanks!

    Re: Small arteries

    Rhoda,

There are a few of us HCMers that fall into the small artery category. About 2% Dr. M. Maron told me. We are complicated to treat and normally not on traditional hcm medications. Which makes this clear as mud sometimes. So yes, small arteries can be associated with hcm.
