  • Why does HCM cause syncope? and BIG thanks to Lisa....

Just wondering if anyone could tell me why HCM causes syncope? Is it a drop in BP or heartrate? Or am I way off base?

A side note. I spoke with Lisa today and wish all my Dr's were like her. She was thorough and considerate and PATIENT with me. Talking to her eased my mind tremendously not to mention she gave me some very important advice. Thank you Lisa.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Dx in Feb/99. Obstructed. No ICD, no surgeries, no family history. 2 sons ages 14 and 6.

Pam, YOU ARE VERY WELCOME! That is what we are here for!

Syncope can be caused by a few different things. You were not off base with your thoughts. It could be a drop in blood pressure OR it could be a rythm disturbance. An evaluation with an HCM specialist can help uncover what the root cause is.

Oh Pam there is a method to my madness. You see now that you have learned more about HCM - YOU can help spead the word!!

    Big hugs!
