  • gallbladder surgery

Hi, I have been told I may need to have gallbladder surgery and am wondering if anyone else had this, how did it go?
It's not what you gather, but what you scatter that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Dx in Feb/99. Obstructed. No ICD, no surgeries, no family history. 2 sons ages 14 and 6.

Sorry to hear that you may need surgery. I can't help you directly, but from what i understand it's a very common procedure. My mom had her gallbladder operation some time ago and had absolutely no difficulties at all. I remember her recovery was very brief and she was back on her feet pretty fast.

I had gallbladder surgery about a year ago. It was quite uneventful. Not a lot of pain either. You are up and walking by the end of the day! They are now mostly done laproscopic so recovery is a lot faster!

I had my galbladder out about 4+ years ago. The one thing interesting
is that afterwards you will have lots of shoulder pain. this is related
to the gas that they put in you. The shoulder pain was sometimes worse
than the pain from the surgery. I was back to normal in about a week,
          i.e. at work and everything.

you have to stay on a low fat diet for the first few months, while your
liver gets used to taking over the gallbladder functions.
