    On May 12, 2003, the Lyndhurst Police Department lost 29-year-old Police Officer Keith Von Rapacki to an undiagnosed heart disease. This disease, which was eventually found to be Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, affects 1 in 500 people.


    In an attempt to raise awareness of this disease, the Lyndhurst Police Department and PBA Local #202, in conjunction with the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Association, (HCMA) will be hosting a 5K Run and a 2K Fun Walk. All proceeds will be donated in memory of Officer Von Rapacki, to the HCMA.

    Dx age 12 current age 46 and counting!
    lost: 5 family members to HCM (SCD, Stroke, CHF)
    Others diagnosed living with HCM (or gene +) include - daughter, niece, nephew, cousin, sister and many many friends!
    Therapy - ICD (implanted 97, 01, 04 and 11, medication
    Currently not obstructed
    Complications - unnecessary pacemaker and stroke (unrelated to each other)

    Is there a way that people, like myself, from other parts of the country can pledge in the name of?

    Should we call the number or is there an easier way to pledge?
